A Pipe Layer Foreman is a skilled leadership role responsible for supervising crews (typically 2 to 15 people) in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground piping systems for water, sewer, and storm drains. This is a "working foreman" position, meaning you are expected to perform physical labor alongside your team while managing project logistics and safety

- Crew Management: Schedule, coordinate, and supervise daily activities of pipe layers, laborers, and equipment operators.
- Technical Installation: Lay, join, and align pipe sections for storm sewers, sanitation lines, and water mains.
- Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications to configure accurate pipe routes.
- Precision Alignment: Use pipe lasers, transit levels, and grade rods to ensure proper elevation and slope.
- Site Safety: Conduct daily safety meetings, identify potential hazards, and ensure full compliance with OSHA standards and company safety protocols.
- Equipment Operation: Operate heavy machinery like excavators, backhoes, and front-end loaders to dig and backfill trenches.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate daily logs, process employee timesheets, and track material usage and production costs
- Key Requirements
- Experience: Typically requires 3 to 5 years of experience in underground utility construction, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Physical Stamina: Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials, often up to 75–100 lbs.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in welding, sealing joints, and knowledge of various pipe materials (PVC, ductile iron, concrete).
- Environment: Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and within confined spaces like deep excavations.
- Licensing: A valid driver’s license is mandatory
